All around Graith the saints tell of tales of the Bonefolk, burly warriors of knotted muscle, heavy razor sharp fangs, spines or tusks and famed naval fighters. What many forget to talk about is the Tusker's jovial disposition and their kind hearted nature. Powerful bodies, natural weapons and caring hearts give Tuskers a natural protective instinct which they use to defend the church from all foes.

-Society-

The Tusker empire of Whet is build on the back of fishermen and warriors. Tuskers have always had a deep love for water and for as long as tuskers have been around they have been living off it's bounty. Whet is flanked on the west by a massive coast line yielding many rare and exotic fish for food and pets and has some of the largest veins of ocean and coral ore in the world, these rare metals are spark ores and have a strong tie to the element of water and when forged properly can be made into an Empowered Weapon with power over water.

Tusker adventurers will risk much for a few pounds of ore for even ten pounds is worth enough tokens to live on for several months, the only problem is Ocean ore veins are located miles beneath the sea in the dark depths and coral ore grows only in ancient reefs where the oldest sea and largest sea creatures dwell, many of whom are powerful predators.

Tusker towns and villages are run by either the strongest warrior (Usually a spark user) or a member of the Tusker noble line, tuskers born with fangs, spines and tusks, these individuals serve as Grand Judge of the village and appoint an appropriate number of lesser judges to serve under them. The Tusker capital city is Oceanspire, it is home to thousands of tuskers and has the most shops and trading ships as well as being the HQ of the Tusker Army/Navy and guard forces.

-Religion-

Not even the Tuskers remember how they first truly heard the gospel preached but God is dearest to them above all else. The Great Friend as many still call Christ is always helping and guiding, a trial is a test and must be met in a godly manner, this is why many believe Tuskers are so happy and friendly, they truly feel that Christ is leading them through life.

An old Tusker belief is that tusked animals are used by God to help each tusker learn and when a Tusker turns thirteen their parents present with a wooden figurine of the tusked animal they believe the Lord has picked for them bearing a cross, this decision is usual thought upon for the whole thirteen years with the parents watching and learning which virtues their child need better understand and praying fervently for the Lord to direct them to the proper decision as each animal has it's own lessons to teach and virtues symbolized with it.

-Anatomy-

Tuskers are a hearty people and often weigh in at around 250 to 300 pounds and stand between six and six foot five while the females average between 185 and 230lbs and stand between 5'11 and 6ft. Both sexes prefer long wild hair but traditional and popular new hair styles are common as well.

Tusker complexes and skin tones vary and often mimic the area they grow up in, a Tusker born near or on the coastline will have ocean blue, bright green, sandy blonde or white skin. Tuskers from a swampy area are usually dark green, black, brown or brownish green while Tuskers who live on rivers are usually light to dark brownish red, light or dark grey, mossy green, light blue or light orange.

Hair color is almost always a deep black but blondes and orange colors are not unheard of.

Since Tusker woman are just as strong and durable as the men everyone is expected to pull their weight be it fishing, hunting, fighting or farming.

The feature which tuskers are famed for are their hard bone growths that take the form of either thick stout tusks ranging from six to twenty inches on males and two to five inches on females, a set of strong fangs that can tear off a hunk of almost anything they sink into or retractable spines that are like natural daggers running up and down their arms, legs, backs and shoulders and over time a tusker can learn to tear out these spines to make crude but effective weapons in the form of daggers, machetes, arrows or spears or fire them with the force of a crossbow, either way the spines grow back in minutes from the high calcium deposits tuskers store in their unique skeletal system.

-Combat-

Tuskers are famed for their durability and their strength but many nasty myths of Tusker stupidity have risen up from the fact that most Tuskers are a tad dim but they are a far cry from stupid, Tuskers born with Sage, Agent or Tinker sparks may not be able to scour the depths of the ancient tomes of these orders or master the most complex powers and designs, but will always master whatever skills they can learn and always go for the bluntest method.

As Warriors Tuskers excel, from the moment they turn thirteen a tusker village elects the best warriors among them to drill the children in the arts of combat and a tusker with a Warrior spark will be head and shoulders over most races once they set off to prove themselves in the capital of Whet or the Graith capital of Golden Tower if they want to get a Warrior's degree and join a Guild. Warrior Tuskers are commonly encased in heavy armor and will wield a weighty weapon as well such as a battle axe, waraxe, broadsword, mace or one of the traditional Tusker weapons such as a Jigger Spear, Heavy Harpoon or an Oyster Jack (A heavy club with iron spikes)

Tusker Rippers are massive brutes who wrap themselves up in the furs and hides of their kills and wield massive blades, bludgeons and axes with feral zeal unseen in the mostly good natured Tusker people but the kindness in every Tusker's heart is still there beneath it all.

Tusker Seekers are well adept at hurling spears of all kinds and it is Tusker Seekers who usually learn to fire their spines as weapons. Even with massive heavy muscles and bones Tuskers do not have a natural loss of speed and can go on to become great hunters, assassins and even shinobi like the ones who guard Salttusk Tower where the High Judge of Whet resides from the shadows.

Tusker Paladins are welcomed additions to any guild or adventuring company with their enthusiasm for the Lord's word and work, kind hearts and legendary zealous fury in combat. Tuskers truly are fearsome paladins, charging in head first using destructive wards to power their attacks with flames, searing light and electricity.

Tusker Sages are often looked down upon for the fact Tuskers are not as smart as humans, dwarves or elves but while most don't see the point of the Artistic flair of the Dance, Vocal or Masterpiece styles where singing and dancing bolster the fighting skills and moral of the company or create lovely works of art out of energy they do have a natural talent for the Elemental styles of Water and Air as any Tusker worth their salt can read the tides and winds and while not many tuskers like to put up with all the book learning that comes with the Medical style of the Sage world they can learn the Combat and Metamorphic style with frightening ease.

Tusker Agents are rare, but then again so are most types of Agents and a Tusker Agent will be as short tempered as they come, their natural gift of telepathy allowing them to feel all the insults and true thoughts their peers and countrymen may have toward them and their Avatar may well reflect their frustration in some way. While a Tusker Agent may always be mentally inferior to his fellow agents their raw power and tenacity may well make up for it.

Tusker Tinkers are often met with shocked stares when they introduce themselves, to many the idea of the simple minded lovable brutes of Whet being able to build complex robots to serve them, craft sophisticated weapons and brew amazing potions and elixirs with powerful effects. All snickering stops once a Tusker reveals their toys, usually massive swirling contraptions such as Swirlsaws, Iron Grips and Vibe and Spark Weapons or maybe something that makes a very big impression such as an Aqua Shooter, Plasma Mortar, gatling gun or Baz Shooter.

this is roughly what I have for them so far. Later and God bless! X3

Whew. These creatures sound really cool.

What are the most common animals that are chosen? And is there any particular symbolism connected to the various ones?

Can Tuskers breath underwater? Or do they have other ways of doing things down there (like mining ore)?

What color are their tusks and spines?

Sorry the link didn't work, try this one, to answer your questions, yes, some Tuskers have gills behind their ears others use Empowered items like Air Stones or Fish Glyphs to make it down deep enough or Tinker made diving armor, The animals chosen always have tusks such as Boars, Walrus, mammoth, elephant, Narwhal Whales and other such beasts, I haven't quite gotten the exact symbolism for each one down yet (Sorry) and the spines and tusks are plain bone colored but some dye them or put war paint on them. Hope these helped! X3

Oooh, even cooler. I particularly like the idea of them dying or painting their tusks.
