Dew on an open wound.
An evening and nightfall of black hair falling over your eyes.
A soft droplet of wax gliding down the shaft of a tall candle.
Lifting a sheet to spread it over a sleeping laborer.
A touch on your very eye so gentle that it does not occur to you to blink.
In a hissing desert the shades of the gardens of an oasis rise around you like a mother’s embrace.
Anointed with oil.
Warm clouds filling the sky.
The hair of a fallen hero trailing across the ground as his body is dragged away.
Snow falling through windless air onto a sleeping face.
A bird’s nest made in someone’s lap.
A zephyr blowing a slight dust hesitantly up onto the back of an inert hand.
“Lay my rod upon the face of the child.”
Alone in a warm bath in a vast house in a cold land.
A spider making a hummingbird nest as a gift for a hummingbird.
Stroking water so gently that your hand is not made wet.
A low wind heard but not felt.
A thick wall obscured by ivy.
A girl sleeping on a shirt that belonged to her dead father.
Hands leaning on a staff.
A necklace warmed by the skin, worn beneath the clothes.
Being led by someone by holding the back of their belt.
Carrying a crown under your arm.
The warmth of a cup of warm drink in your hand.
A girl with black hair bowing to be crowned with a chaplet of leaves.
A child burying his face in the white beard of a patriarch.
Feeling the heartbeat of a bird lying in the palm of your hand.
The smell of a clean bed.
A fish swimming slowly through still, sunlit water.
A child facedown on the back of a massive horse, trying to hug the horse.
Waking in your bed in the night, hearing a flute playing softly from somewhere in the house.
Feeling your bride’s face through her vail.
Taking the arm of an old man, to help him across rough ground.
Picking bits of brush and thorns out of a girl’s hair.
A calm voice telling a dream, heard in another room.
An exorcist who coaxes demons away with food and toys.
The ripple spreading from where a bird dipped its beak to drink.
The fogging of part of polished plate armor, when it is held up to the mouth of an unconscious person.

What do you think?
What parts stand out to you? Does it give you any ideas? Do you have a question about some part? Does any of it remind you of something?

Please critique!
