Define 'working'

It's sort of on hold, since I have a bunch of other writing projects I've been working on, but I tinker with it sometimes when I'm bored and too lazy to work on stuff I'm supposed to be working on.

That counts. Will you post updates, once you have them?

The hills are alive...with the sound of music...Interesting idea, Bethany. Here's a couple thoughts: Because this world is made with sound, you could use certain pitches to shatter ear drums. Would the deaf be like eternally cursed people?

Hmm...not sure. Never quite thought about that... Perhaps, if someone becomes deaf they can see the sounds instead of hear them?

But yeah, I guess that would be considered quite the curse in a world like this... * tipoes away, pondering *

Huh, it would be awfully hard to stalk someone. I mean, imagine walking along and hearing from the ground (in a singsong manner) "Someone's stalking you, someone's stalking you..."

It sounds like an amazing idea! I have noticed in my world that there is a distinctive lack of music...

*laughs at the ground singing about you being stalked *

Bethy, when/if you'll work more on this world, a good story to read would be John Steinbeck's The Pearl (it's more of a novella, actually). It's rather depressing, but there are songs for everything, as sort of a motif/symbol throughout the story. They aren't necessarily literal/physical, as in your world, but it'd be good reference to see how Steinbeck does it.

I was shocked when I stumbled upon this thread, because I've been toying with a similar idea: a world in which music is heavily involved. I haven't fleshed out many details yet, but I really like some of the ideas and suggestions I saw posted here. Is this thread dead? Are any of the ideas up for grabs, so to speak? 'Cause I'd seriously consider using some of them but I don't want to get in trouble. Although if what I use is different enough I suppose it wouldn't be considered plagiarism.
